Talk Like a Pirate Day
Yes, it is a real day. No, we do not know why either.
No ship, no plank, no actual doubloons: just a day for shouting "arr" at colleagues who did not ask for it. In that spirit, a loose flotilla of things that could, with enough squinting, belong to a pirate's inventory - or at least to whoever is dressing up as one this year.
Every lookout needs optics, and the Denver Nightvision camera does more than a spyglass ever could, seeing in the dark and recording what it finds instead of just making you gasp and lower it dramatically. Infrared, 4K, a battery that outlasts most nights on watch: overkill for spotting a rival ship, exactly right for anyone who wanted a proper Verrekijker and got a small surveillance unit instead.

Even pirates start somewhere, and the fabric picture book is aimed lower down the crew hierarchy, at the one-year-olds not yet cleared for sword fighting. It is fruit and vegetables in soft cloth form, filed here under Babyboekje, which is either the gentlest onboarding a future buccaneer could get or entirely unrelated to piracy and just a nice book.

Costume-wise, the Pietenpak in orange and purple was built for a different Dutch holiday entirely, but a striped outfit is a striped outfit, and nobody checking a pirate costume at the door is going to ask which December tradition it was designed for. Browse more under Verkleedkleding if the crew needs matching outfits.

Not every pirate wants stripes. The purple tutu with wings and a wand goes a different direction entirely, less "terror of the seas" and more "fairy who happened to wander onto a ship," cape and staff included. For a themed party where the dress code is loose, that ambiguity might be a feature, and there is more in Verkleedaccessoire for anyone building out the look.

A pen is not a cutlass, but the hard-shell pen case does have the shape of something you would not want to lose overboard, all rigid EVA and a zip that actually closes. Useful for marking treasure maps, or just for keeping a stylus intact in a bag that sees rough weather, pirate-themed or not. More of the same under Pen.

And for the quieter members of the crew, the Busy Board offers knots, zippers, and buckles to fiddle with instead of an actual ship's rigging, which is probably safer for everyone involved. Filed under Educatief spel, it is less about the pirate theme and more about giving small hands something to do while the adults argue about who gets to be captain.
