The one who plays
The hardware around the game, which is the half that wears out and the half nobody replaces.
Buying a game for somebody who plays is a coin flip. They have it, they have decided against it, or they are three hundred hours into something else. The hardware around it is a much better bet, because it wears out and nobody replaces it until it fails.
The controller is the clearest case. A second one is the difference between playing alone and playing with whoever is on the sofa, and the first one has usually developed a stick that drifts.
A gaming headset is the other thing in constant use, and the one most likely to be the cheap pair that came with something else. Anybody who plays with other people is wearing one for hours at a time.
Then the desk half, if they play there. A keyboard and a gaming mouse are the two objects their hands are on the whole time, which is exactly the argument for not cheaping out and exactly why people do.
Below, from the console side to the desk. Both ends get used.
