Healing From The Burns: Life after Fireman Scam

The conman was behind bars. Justice had finally been served. Surely now they could simply move on?For Coleen Greenwood and her twin sister Karen Crear, the conviction of Greg Wilson should have marked the end of an extraordinary nightmare. But sometimes surviving the crime is only the beginning of the story. After discovering that the man Coleen knew as heroic firefighter James Scott was actually a compulsive liar and fraudster, the family had fought for years to expose the truth and bring him to justice. Now they faced a different battle: learning how to rebuild their lives in the aftermath.Coleen must confront the lasting effects of betrayal, rediscover her ability to trust and cope with a torrent of cruel online victim-blaming. Meanwhile, the sisters begin to realise that telling their story might not only help them heal, but could help other victims recognise that they are not alone. As their extraordinary experiences attract the attention of broadcasters, journalists and documentary makers, Coleen and Karen find themselves moving from reluctant victims to women determined to use their voices to raise awareness of romance fraud and challenge the stigma surrounding those who fall prey to manipulation.Yet life has more challenges waiting for the family, and healing proves to be anything but a straight road.Candid, moving and frequently very funny, Healing From The Burns: Life After Fireman Scam is the uplifting follow-up to Playing With Fire. It is a true story of family, survival, resilience and discovering that even after the darkest days, light can break through.Because being deceived doesn't define you. What you do afterwards just might.
