More Alaska Bear Tales

Stories of terror, adventure, brutality, and even humor made in 1983 book Alaska Bear Tales a national phenomenon, with more than 100,000 copies sold. Now, Anchorage author and school teacher Larry Kaniut has compiled his second volume of true-life bear stories, so intriguing - so unbelievable - that they often read like fiction. From unprovoked maulings and terrifying close calls to amusing bear antics and hunting tips, Kaniut's gripping collection drives home the ever-present danger of encounters with the most fearsome creature in Alaska. In this sequel, Kaniut takes us from the farthest reaches of the Alaska wilderness, right around the corner of familiar urban settings where man and bear face off with unpredictable outcomes. "The bear charged forward, grabbing me by my lower right leg as he ran by. He picked me up, swung me over his head, and actually threw me like I was a feather pillow. I landed on a rock several feet away, barely hitting the ground before the bear was on top of me, chewing my upper right leg." From backyard to back country, from the gruesome to the educational, More Alaska Bear Tales is a vintage Alaska adventure.
