Iconic House Series- Iconic Gardens

A grand survey of the world's most iconic gardens from 1900 to now. These are the landscapes that have come to define the garden as we know it today. Most gardens are for their owners alone; a rare few become icons – defining statements of a particular style, moment, place or imagination. Iconic Gardens explores eighty examples across six continents and every climate. Celebrated landmarks such as Derek Jarman’s shingle plot at Dungeness and Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul join lesser-known treasures like Carlo Scarpa’s Villa Ottolenghi to chronicle over a century of modern garden design. Historian and critic Tim Richardson charts the influences, movements and characters: from ornamental Arts and Crafts and linear Modernism to the expressive, naturalistic styles of today, showing how, garden by garden, modern paradise was made.
