Everyman's Library CLASSICS-The Essential Stoics

Stoicism is probably the most popular non-religious philosophy in the world, with millions of adherents and an important place in contemporary philosophical discourse. It is more than just a set of beliefs or ethical standards; it is a way of life that involves constant practice. Founded in around 300 BCE in Athens by Zeno, Stoicism flourished throughout the Greco-Roman world. Its most famous adherents include Seneca, Epictetus, Diogenes, and the Emperor Marcus Aurelius, and their writings continue to be widely read and studied thousands of years after they were written.
