A Mighty Lewd Book

At first, a free-lance writer doesn’t share his friends’ obsession with a famous porn actor. When the notorious adult industry performer makes a personal appearance at a local bar, the writer reluctantly agrees to accompany his buddies to the event. To the writer’s surprise, the porn star turns out to be a nice, unpretentious, decent sort of a guy. (Well, perhaps “decent” isn’t quite the right word, given this dude’s sexual history.) Furthermore, he’s written his memoirs—and he enlists the writer’s assistance, to help him edit the steamy tell-all book and get it published. As they work together on the project, an unlikely friendship develops between the two men. But will friendship lead to further intimacies? Will the writer play an X-rated starring role in a chapter of his own, or will he be no more than a footnote in the professional stud-for-hire’s busy career? Either way, the result is (in the words of the seventeenth-century diarist Samuel Pepys), “a mighty lewd book, but yet not amiss for a sober man once to read over to inform himself in the villainy of the world.” (Or to read over twice or more, so as not to miss any of the especially lewd or villainous parts.)
