Learning German on the Go

Dear Reader Friends:I decided to publish this book for people who have a desire to learn German (or even have a basic understanding ot it), but who are just starting out, or are perhaps like me and have studied it before but wish to continue. I initially began studying German on my own with a book and some cassettes shortly after graduating from college in 1986, and I was immediately fascinated by the language. Even so, I found it somewhat intimidating because of the case endings (for those of you who have ever studied Latin or Greek!), and I found it much harder than Spanish, French and Italian, in that regard. Eventually, I lost motivation and stopped studying German for several years. Fortunately, about ten years later I decided to take a German course at the university and my love of German was immediately rekindled, although I was disappointed that I couldn't study more than one semester due to other commitments. Even so, I didn't give up and eventually wrote this book after also writing books for beginners and novices who wanted to learn French and Italian. I hope that you, dear reader friends, will find this book useful as a first step in learning this wonderful language, or perhaps as a way of reviewing what you have learned previously. It treats the following themes: pronunciation, greetings and useful phrases, people, family, introductions, professions, place of origin, countries, cities, languages, describing people and clothing, days, dates, numbers, telling time, talking about the weather, the home, asking for directions, modes of transport, animals, nature, the body, activities, places, food and drinks, feelings and conditions and basic grammar.
