History of Explosions on Which the American Table of Distances Was Based.

"History of Explosions on Which the American Table of Distances Was Based" is an essential technical and historical record compiled by Ralph Assheton. This comprehensive work documents the specific incidents and empirical data that informed the creation of the American Table of Distances, the fundamental safety standards used to regulate the storage and handling of explosive materials in the United States. By analyzing various accidental explosions, the text provides a scientific basis for understanding blast radii, structural damage, and the risks associated with varying quantities of volatile substances. This volume serves as a critical primary source for engineers, historians of technology, and safety professionals. It details the evolution of industrial safety protocols during the early 20th century, highlighting the transition from anecdotal observation to rigorous, data-driven safety requirements. Through its meticulous cataloging of historical events, "History of Explosions on Which the American Table of Distances Was Based" offers invaluable insight into the development of modern explosives regulation and the ongoing effort to protect public life and property in industrial environments. Its historical value lies in its preservation of the technical foundations that continue to underpin safety standards in the explosives and mining industries today. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
