Over dit product

Commercial ice arenas present one of the most demanding humidity-control environments in building engineering. Unlike conventional commercial buildings, an ice arena combines a very cold ice surface with substantial internal moisture generation, large spectator populations, frequent door openings, outdoor-air infiltration, and significant ventilation requirements. When these factors are not properly controlled, moisture can quickly become a threat to both operational performance and the building itself.Condensation, fog, frost, ice accumulation, corrosion, deterioration of insulation, and moisture migration into the building envelope are among the consequences of inadequate humidity management. At the same time, excessive dehumidification can result in unnecessary energy consumption and higher operating costs.Desiccant wheel technology offers an effective approach to this challenge because it can remove moisture from air even when conventional cooling-based dehumidification becomes less practical. However, installing a desiccant wheel is only the beginning. Its actual performance depends heavily on how the rotor, process airflow, reactivation airflow, purge arrangement, controls, and heating system are operated. This book focuses on performance optimization rather than simply equipment selection.Particular attention is given to silica gel desiccant wheels and the practical effects of rotor rotation speed, process-air face velocity, reactivation temperature, airflow balance, purge operation, and pressure relationships. These variables interact continuously. A change made to one operating parameter can influence moisture removal, energy consumption, carryover, pressure drop, and overall arena conditions.A major objective of this book is to explain these relationships in…
