The Overstimulation Fix

Do you hit a wall at six in the evening, snap at the people you love, then sink into a fog where even loading the dishwasher feels impossible? That is not weakness, laziness or a bad attitude. It is volume. Your nervous system is taking in more than it can process, and the bill always comes due. The Overstimulation Fix is a practical, step-by-step system for highly sensitive adults who are tired of feeling drained by noise, clutter, screens, crowded rooms and other people's expectations. Instead of asking you to toughen up or become someone with a quieter nervous system, this book shows you how to turn down the volume of the life you are actually living, with kids, jobs, partners, group chats and holidays included. Built around a clear 0 to 10 Overstimulation Load Scale, the book teaches you to notice your load before it tips into overload, and gives you a specific action for every zone, from green to red. You will learn why the same evening hits you harder than others, how to tell overstimulation apart from burnout, anxiety, neurodivergence and hormonal shifts, and how to build a daily rhythm that genuinely restores your energy instead of just getting you through the day. Inside you will discover: ✓ A seven-day audit to map exactly where your energy goes and which inputs cost you the most ✓ Two-minute first aid techniques for the red zone, including a simple breathing method you can use at the kitchen sink ✓ A room-by-room guide to designing a calmer home for all eight sensory systems ✓ How to tame notifications, group chats and doomscrolling with your own digital volume knob ✓ Strategies for socializing, hosting guests and attending events without paying for it the next day ✓ How to negotiate a shared home with partners and kids so everyone's needs are respected ✓…
