Sinai Trekking And Safari

The only guidebook to the Sinai covering ALL the main trekking and safari routes – from coast to coast and to the southernmost tip. Whether planning a tour on foot, camel back or by 4x4, you have all the essential information with over 100 maps, PLUS you can download the GPS waypoints or view the routes - with photos - in Google Earth and Google Maps (see: www.sinaimaps.com). The book also contains other vital information; notes on culture, history and nature; illustrations; a catalogue of places with descriptions, photos and maps; and a part with a comprehensive list of useful Arabic words and expressions for trekkers. In the Sinai you must have a Bedouin guide when you venture out to the mountains or desert – still, this guidebook comes very useful. There are many excellent Bedouin guides, and the majority are quite good, especially when it comes to catering for visitors, but there is a tendency to walk past some of the best sights without showing them. Having this guidebook you will know all the practicalities and attractions, so you can plan ahead, discuss the itinerary with your Bedouin guide before setting off and orientate yourself along the trek. This is the best for both of you: choose convenient places for breaks and while your Bedouin guide makes a tea or lunch in the shade, you can discover the little secret gems – found often only a few steps off the main tourist path. This guidebook is an original work, based on research which started in 2005. An important milestone was the “Discover Sinai” publication in 2009, followed by a little trekking guide with the highlights in 2011, and now the complete route guide is here. Discover a fascinating world of immense natural beauty and unique desert cultures – discover Sinai!
