Gods and Empires 2 - Empress of Ashen Skies

Empress Neferet once believed she was chosen by the gods to shape history. Now, with her empire ravaged by famine and disease, reeling from brutal losses, and on the brink of war, she knows she’s been forsaken. Each day, she grows more desperate to hold her crumbling empire together, but faith is a dangerous thing when it feels as distant as the gods themselves. Ilyas, a devoted warrior of his holy order, has been dispatched to protect Neferet—a task he neither wanted nor believed he could fulfil. As tensions rise, he uncovers signs that the gods’ favour might not be the blessing he once thought. When their intentions are as obscure as their motives, he must face the possibility that he and Neferet are pawns in a far more sinister and ancient game. Together, Neferet and Ilyas must navigate mistrust, fractured loyalties, and the whispers of gods whose help may come at a deadly cost. Can they reclaim control of their own fates, or will everything they know be sacrificed in the name of divine ambition?
