Tractors On The Farm - Their Choice, Use And Maintenance

Choosing the right machine, getting the best from it, and keeping it running: three problems every farmer met once the horse gave way to the engine. Tractors on the Farm takes all three in turn.H. J. Hine wrote for the man who had to drive the thing, not for the designer. His subject is the whole practical business of tractor power on a working holding - how to judge which model suits the acreage, the soil and the implements already in the yard, how to handle it properly through a season, and how to service it so that it is still earning its keep years later. Illustrated throughout, it now reads as a clear record of what an early farm tractor was asked to do, and of the routines that kept it going - as useful to anyone bringing an old machine back to life as it once was to the farmer buying his first one. This edition features:Guidance on matching a tractor to the size, soil and work of a particular holdingPractical advice on handling and driving through a full working seasonServicing and repair routines written for the owner rather than the trained fitterIllustrated throughout with photographs and working diagramsA useful background text for anyone bringing an older farm tractor back into service
