Over dit product

In the colonial town of Tulig, Padre Agaton is haunted by visions, buried secrets, and the suffering of his people. After the brutal death of a woman named Niña, his faith begins to unravel as he confronts colonial violence, guilt, desire, and the silence of God. Blurring the boundaries between memory, reality, and the supernatural, Makamisa is a literary reimagining of Rizal's unfinished novel that explores martyrdom, grief, and the cost of survival. History of Makamisa Makamisa is the unfinished third novel of José Rizal, written around 1891–1892 after the publication of Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. Unlike his earlier novels, Rizal composed much of Makamisa in Tagalog, reflecting a shift toward portraying everyday Filipino life through humor and social satire. The manuscript remained incomplete and was left among Rizal's papers after his execution in 1896. Decades later, scholars recovered and transcribed the surviving chapters and fragments, revealing a work centered on provincial society and the clergy rather than the revolutionary themes of his previous novels. Although only portions of the manuscript survive, Makamisa remains an important literary document because it provides insight into Rizal's evolving style and the direction his writing might have taken had the novel been completed.
