Over dit product

Periodic Table of 9 Basic Emotions: The History, Concept, Function and Neuropsychosocial Application presents a pioneering approach to the scientific organisation of the basic emotions and to understanding their neurofacial expression. In this work, Professor Freitas-Magalhães - considered one of the world’s leading contemporary experts in the study of the facial expression of emotion, with major contributions to Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Psychology and the Encyclopedia of Human Behavior, published by Elsevier, Oxford — proposes the F-M Periodic Table of 9 Basic Emotions (F-MPT9BE) as a new architecture for investigating the relationships between the brain, the face, emotion, behaviour and context. The F-MPT9BE organises, within a dynamic and relational matrix, the nine basic emotions - Anger (An), Contempt (Co), Disgust (Di), Fear (Fe), Happiness (Ha), Love (Lo), Sadness (Sa), Surprise (Su) and Pain (Pa) - not as isolated expressions or fixed snapshots of human experience, but as emotional territories with their own properties, proximities, differentiations, transitions and possible overlaps. Grounded in the Facial Brain Theory, Survival Triangle Theory, Face-Mirror Theory and Neurocultural Theory, and articulated with F-M FACS 6.0 - The Facial Brain Coding System, the book examines facial activity as a neurobiological, temporal, functional and social phenomenon. Neuromicroexpressions, intensity, dynamics, context, and individual and cultural variability therefore assume particular importance in the construction of this new cartography of emotion. Freitas-Magalhães’ proposal deliberately moves beyond the traditional idea of associating an emotion with a single facial expression. A movement is not an emotion, a code is not a diagnosis, and a configuration does not,…
