The Brazilian Parrot

Burned-out YouTuber Peter Roux, haunted by his past and yearning for meaning, lands the interview of a lifetime with Tehmineh Gharani—a resolute Persian-American activist fighting for the rights of Baha'is and women in Iran. Moments after their conversation ends in Tehmineh's office, a car bomb targeting her plunges everything into chaos. Peter instinctively throws himself over her, shielding her from the blast, and suffers a severe injury—a massive shard of glass driven deep into his lower back. Distrusting the FBI, which suspiciously rushes to blame Iran and even hints at his involvement, Peter turns to a private contact—an investigator named Bob. While the FBI pretends to investigate and offers only routine or even absurd theories, Bob uncovers the real culprit. The truth proves far dirtier. To launch a devastating, coordinated media strike, Peter and Tehmineh must escape the FBI's inadequate safe house. During a desperate midnight flight through the dark Texas forest, Peter once again risks his life, carrying the exhausted activist on his shoulders—a gesture that tears open his healing wounds. Tehmineh triumphs by exposing the conspiracy on live television. Yet instead of celebration, she is met with tears and a haunting sense of déjà vu.
