Silent Defenders: A Butler Book II continues the first story of the Varga family, Sacred Stones: A Butler Book. At the July 13, 2024 Trump rally in Butler, a stray bullet causes an explosion that affects 10-year-old Jonathan's right ear and he begins to hear the voice of his great-grandfather, Amon. During WWII, young Amon faces challenges of living in a loveless household scarred by his mother's secrets, and he faces temptations without the guidance of any good parenting. Young Jonathan experiences parallel trials in modern times, and both young men are drawn to a love for cars, especially the early Jeep, invented in Butler. Woven through the tale are historical highlights of local people and places along with stories of every presidential assassination attempt, starting with one that took place in Butler over 270 years before Trump's, when a shot was fired at young George Washington.. Jonathan and Amon's paths converge and climax in this drama about the fragility and preciousness of life and the protecting power of prayer.
