Shunya

Warning: this book may untangle your entire concept of reality.Advaita Vedanta-the life-changing, brain-stretching, occasionally reality-shattering philosophy of non-dualism-declares, with the confidence of a cat knocking over a glass of water, that the world as you know it is an illusion. Your job, your mortgage, that leftover pizza in the fridge? All May-cosmic trickery. The only true reality is Brahman: the infinite, eternal, formless essence that is simultaneously you, me, and the leftover pizza. This is philosophy with a capital "Whoa." Intrigued? You should be.Fair warning, though: grasping it is like untangling headphones that have spent three months in your pocket-except the headphones are your entire sense of reality, and the pocket is the infinite cosmos. That's why Shunya hands it to you straight: the writer walks you through the Upanishads with everyday life in the other hand-Brahman explained through a goldfish bowl, the witness-self through your binge-watching, liberation with no incense required. Because the cosmic punchline is simple: you were never the drop struggling against the ocean. You are the ocean. You were never the drop struggling against the ocean. You are the ocean.
