The Tunisians of Manitoba

The Tunisians of Manitoba traces the story of women and men who left Tunisia to build a new life in the heart of the Canadian Prairies. Through their journeys, memories, and experiences, the book recounts the hopes of departure, the challenges of settling in, and the process of learning a new society. The book also explores the gradual building of a Tunisian community in Manitoba: bonds of mutual support, family, work, integration, and the passing on of language, traditions, and memory to new generations. Between attachment to Tunisia and roots in Canada, these stories bear witness to identities that evolve and grow richer through contact with two cultures. The Tunisians of Manitoba is thus a book of memory and transmission, but also a tribute to those who have contributed, each in their own way, to writing a page of Tunisian history in Manitoba.
