Marlborough's Shadow

It is said that Marlborough could never have achieved his great military success without the support and ingenuity of his Chief of Staff, Quartermaster General and Chief of Intelligence, General William Cadogan, who became the 1st Earl Cadogan, and who, in 1722, succeeded Marlborough as Commander-in-Chief of the British Army. This is the story of this most able young general, who possessed the charm, wisdom, powers of persuasion and ruthless determination.
