Recent advances in prosthodontics

Recent advances in prosthodontics have revolutionized the field of restorative dentistry by improving the accuracy, aesthetics, comfort, and longevity of dental prostheses. One of the most significant developments is the introduction of digital dentistry, especially CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing) technology, which allows dentists to design and fabricate crowns, bridges, veneers, dentures, and implant prostheses with exceptional precision and reduced treatment time. Digital impressions using intraoral scanners have largely replaced conventional impression materials, making procedures more comfortable for patients and minimizing errors. Another major advancement is the use of 3D printing technology in the fabrication of dentures, surgical guides, temporary restorations, and maxillofacial prostheses, offering high accuracy and cost-effectiveness. Implant prosthodontics has also progressed remarkably with the development of immediate loading implants, guided implant surgery, and improved implant materials that enhance osseointegration and long-term success.
