The Musée d’Orsay in 365 Works

A new, expanded version of the guide to the permanent collections of the Musée d'Orsay, offering a historical retrospective of the major works in one of France's greatest museums. > Each work is accompanied by a technical sheet and a note written by a curator describing the artist, the context in which it was produced, its description and an aesthetic analysis. This didactic work has become a reference in art history: the works are presented in chronological order, demonstrating the artistic wealth of the period from 1830 to 1930. Whether paintings, sculptures, photographs or objects, these works have earned the institution an international reputation, and its compact format means that it accompanies visitors throughout their visit, enabling them to discover the works in an enlightened way. It includes a detailed chronology of the political and cultural events that have taken place over the last century, as well as a directory of the artists and an index of the works.
