Provenance

Elias Soto stays late at The Provenance to finish hanging the final pieces in the private viewing suite. The night staff has already gone. The outer doors are locked. The only other person left in the building is Dominic Reyes, the security director who walks the empty galleries like he owns the silence. Dominic is massive, deliberate, and absolute—deep bronze skin, salt at the temples, a scar through one brow that never softens his stare. He finds Elias still on the ladder, sleeves rolled, and decides the ninety minutes before the overnight patrol is long enough. What starts against the clean white wall under the low gallery lights moves to the locked viewing room with its single glass wall looking out over the dark courtyard. The risk of footsteps in the corridor is part of the heat. The claiming is not casual. Dominic takes him hard and thorough, keeps him open, fills him, and makes sure Elias understands exactly who the empty hours after close belong to now. Elias came to finish a job. He stays for the man who locks the door, turns the lights low, and rewrites what the private suite is for.
