Adsorption of Methylene Blue on Biomass

This study focuses on the use of Aptenia cordifolia biomass for the removal of methylene blue from aqueous solution via adsorption. After characterizing the material (XRD, FTIR, SEM-EDX, BET, and zeta potential), the operating parameters were optimized. The results show that adsorption is enhanced by increasing the adsorbent mass, pH, and temperature. The kinetic data follow the pseudo-second-order (PSO) model, while the isotherms are described by the Langmuir model, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 51.60 mg·g¿¹. The thermodynamic analysis indicates a spontaneous, favorable, and endothermic process. Regeneration tests also confirm the adsorbent's good recycling potential.
