El Arco Y La Flecha

The arrival of Eros at the forefront of the social scene is undoubtedly the most shocking revolution we have witnessed in recent decades in the West. But what kind of Eros is it and how is it treated? Annick de Souzenelle goes beyond the 'sexual freedom' that is today claimed as an achievement in the face of the moralism of yesteryear, and takes the debate to another level of depth. For her, Eros is an inescapable dimension of being, but ignorance of its essential vocation causes unhappiness and misery. Its formidable energy, which includes both the mystical and the sexual, needs to be awakened, invigorated and directed in a dynamic symbolised by the bow and arrow. If the arrow misses the target and is turned inwards towards the external world, creating artificial objects, it can become deadly. If it hits the inner target, it opens us up to a whole world of light. This is the game of Eros, with its wonders and tragedies, which presides over our journey through life.
