Timely Types

INFJ, INTP. These four-letter codes don’t merely describe personalities or MBTI® types, they can also be powerful tools for increasing self-knowledge—in the right hands. Jung wrote, “It is a general truth that one can only understand anything in as much as one understands oneself.” While many descriptions and typological resources do an adequate job at describing the attitude of the conscious mind, those descriptions only touch the surface, for the human psyche consists not only of conscious elements, but also unconscious ones. By placing the fundamental polarity between conscious and unconscious minds at the heart of its exploration, Timely Types not only outlines MBTI theory and offers compelling descriptions, it also restores Myers and Briggs’s important work back into the broader context of Jungian psychology.
