Winslow & Dyer 1 - Nowhere Good

A criminal's daughter and a city detective collide in this gritty romantic thriller perfect for fans of Karen Rose and Kendra Elliot. Claire Dyer knows what kind of man her father is. The rest of Fairview, Missouri sees him as a pillar of the community-but Claire suspects he's the one feeding the town's opioid crisis. She's just been too afraid to speak up after what happened last time she tried to run. So she plays the good girl; she bartends at the family's bar, dates who she's told to date, and keeps her head down... Until an addict is found murdered in town with the words it should have been me carved into her skin. The victim looks just like Claire. It's the first thing Detective Seth Winslow notices when he arrives from Kansas City to take over the case. As the youngest man on the force, battling his own history with addiction, he's determined to solve this crime quickly and quietly. But the killer has other plans. As more girls resembling Claire are killed, the investigation keeps leading Seth to the Dyers' doorstep-and to Claire. She's his best witness, but the closer he gets, the more the line between protecting her and wanting her starts to blur. Claire is desperate to trust this new detective, but doing so would mean the one thing she swore she'd never do: betray her family.
