Fire Line

An intense, dual-narrative novel that plunges into the heart of a catastrophic wildfire engulfing a vast South African game reserve.¿On the ground, Elias Mkhize, the seasoned park warden, and Thandiwe Ngobeni, a young, pragmatic firefighter, must battle the unpredictable forces of nature and bureaucratic resistance. As the fire evolves into a self-sustaining storm, Thandiwe's team is pushed to the brink, culminating in a desperate entrapment that forces them to rely on the terrifying physics of survival-the deployment of fire shelters.¿Meanwhile, a few miles away, Ma-Tau, an aging lioness with three vulnerable cubs, fights her own battle. Forced from her territory, she navigates the smoke-choked terrain, facing dehydration, territorial rivals, and the overwhelming heat that threatens to cook her family alive. Her journey is a visceral study of animal instinct, focusing on her survival strategies against a relentless, unnatural threat.
