On Pottery and Porcelain

This book celebrates the rediscovery of porcelain as a medium for creative artists in ceramics, through the wonderful and delicate forms made by hand-building. All the information needed for potters who want to work with porcelain is given, together with a survey of the different porcelains which have been used in the West since its first tentative manufacture in the sixteenth century. The author expresses the philosophy of design behind her pottery with beautiful photographs of her own work and some of the natural forms which have influenced its development. She describes her own working methods in detail, as well as giving a comprehensive description of traditional African hand-making techniques.
