The Vulture Sport

Thomas Hauser is among the most decorated boxing writers ever. He burst upon the fistic scene four decades ago with publication of The Black Lights: Inside the World of Professional Boxing and followed that triumph with Muhammad Ali: His Life and Times—the definitive biography of the man who was once the most famous person on earth. Hauser is the only person to be honored by the Boxing Writers Association of American with both the Nat Fleischer Award for Career Excellence in Boxing Journalism and the A.J. Liebling Award for Outstanding Boxing Writing. On twelve occasions, articles he has written have been designated by the BWAA as the "best investigative journalism of the year." The Vulture Sport continues Hauser's tradition of excellence and includes all of his articles about boxing from 2025 and the first half of 2026. As always, Hauser chronicles the big fights and gives readers a behind-the-scenes look at the sport's biggest stars. He shines a penetrating light on boxing's biggest scandals and explores Muhammad Ali's legacy in the age of Donald Trump. In 2019, Hauser was chosen for boxing's highest honor—induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
