Where You Are Really From

Have you ever asked someone, "Where are you really from?" Have you been asked that very question and sensed the many layers hidden behind its simplicity? What if the answer is not a place on a map, but somewhere in between-not here, not there? This collection of essays and stories explores the complexities of identity, heritage, and curiosity that drive us to understand one another. With wit and insight, the author discusses how accents, geography, and names shape our sense of belonging, and how ordinary conversations can carry unexpected ethical and emotional weight. With humour and honesty, she shares the joys and challenges of navigating identity across cultures and continents (From the Philippines to Australia, France to Canada, Ireland, Luxembourg, Ukraine, and beyond). "Where You Are Really From" is deeply personal and universally relatable. It is a journey through heritage, friendship, missteps, and moments of laughter that remind us identity is never just one thing.
