A Rhys Taylor Story 8 - A Cool Head

A COOL HEAD Rhys Taylor thought the worst days were behind him. A quiet life in Lake Tahoe. A steady job plowing winter roads. A warm cabin where Kat and their six-year-old son, Eddie, should be waiting—along with Ted, the Labrador who never misses a homecoming. But when Taylor steps inside, the silence is wrong. Kat is bound and gagged. Eddie is gone. And the name Kat whispers turns Taylor's blood to ice: Vincent Kane—the ruthless arms trafficker Taylor helped put away…a man who should still be locked inside a federal prison. Kane isn't just back. He's come for revenge. With time running out and a blizzard closing in behind them, Taylor pulls together the only people he trusts—Digger Graves and New Orleans detective Annabelle Carter—while Kat and her father dig for digital breadcrumbs Kane never meant to leave. The chase tears across state lines, through back roads and burner rentals, until it ends where Kane is strongest and the rules don't matter: the Louisiana bayou. Out there, the swamp doesn't forgive mistakes. Neither does Kane. And Eddie? Alone in the dark, surrounded by killers, he has only one weapon his father ever taught him to rely on: a cool head**.**
