À propos de ce produit

The Canadian Healthcare Paradox explores the structural flaws within Canada' s health system, from the perspective of a physician and senior healthcare administrator. Dr. Rafiq Andani has practised medicine on the frontline of rural Manitoba, in tertiary urban hospitals, and in leadership within the province' s healthcare system. That broad experience led him the investigate a system that is failing. The signs are clear: • Why are we waiting so long for a doctor' s appointment, or for surgery? • How does access to medical care depend on where you live? • Why are emergency wards jammed while hospital rooms are filled up with long-term patients? • Why does the system reward activity more than outcomes? Canadian medicare began with a simple promise: Illness should not bankrupt you. That promise became the foundation of universal public health insurance and a pillar of Canada' s cultural identity. But it never evolved into an operating model with clear goals for timely access, accountability, and sustained performance. So, now it is not the patient who is going bankrupt. Instead, the system itself is showing signs of insolvency.
