Kilian Jornet: Alpine Connections

A gripping first-person account of Kilian Jornet’s record-breaking Alpine Summits challenge, in which he summited 82 peaks in just 19 days. Alpine Connections, by Kilian Jornet – the Catalan professional long-distance trail runner and ski mountaineer widely considered one of the greatest of all time – is a first-person visual and written account of an extraordinary Alpine undertaking. In August–September 2024, Jornet made international headlines by summiting 82 peaks over 4,000 metres in just 19 days, smashing the previous record by three days and traversing the Alps at a pace never before achieved. Set against glaciers and ridgelines undergoing rapid change, Alpine Connections also serves as a powerful act of witness to the accelerating impact of climate change in the Alpine world. The result is a striking, human work that has already been praised in El País: 'Jornet captures the ethereal, the human, and the philosophical aspects of (...) his Homeric ride between glaciers and peaks, and offers reflections that no measured figure can resolve'.
