The Morning After the Dark

Elena keeps a beautiful house. She bakes cakes that make people cry. She loves her husband and her children and her God.She also lies awake at night, sure her husband is going to leave her. She reads silence as rejection. A flickering lightbulb becomes proof that she doesn't matter. And she has no idea that the way she sees the world isn't the way the world is - or that her family has been quietly trying to tell her so for almost twenty years. The Morning After the Dark tells the story of a woman trapped inside her own perception, and a husband who keeps making her tea every morning anyway. Set in rural Montana and told from both sides of a marriage where each silence carries weight, this novel is for anyone who has lived this story, or watched someone they love live it.A quiet, Christian novel, but not a tidy one. For readers of Nicholas Sparks and Karen Kingsbury.
